Something You Need A compact but powerful teaching moment
After studying the Bible for so many years, It never ceases to delight me when new-to-me verse stop me in my tracks. This is one of those exact verses:
Now this was the sin of your sister Sodom: She and her daughters were arrogant, overfed and unconcerned; they did not help the poor and needy. Ezekiel 16:49 (emphasis mine)
TBH, these words have echoed in my head for the last week. Arrogant. Overfed. Unconcerned. If you felt a chill down your back, you’re not alone. And for good reason. Yes this is in reference to Sodom and Gommorah and while I’m thrilled it’s not an exact prophesy about my life today, there is no doubt I have had seasons that could be classified the same way. Maybe you, too?
I came acroos Ellicott's Commentary for English Readers while studying this passage and he notes: Pride, fullness of bread, and abundance of idleness. The description strikes at the causes rather than the overt acts of sin, and the unnatural crimes which are always associated in our minds with the name of Sodom are not mentioned.

Once upon a time, a girl who shall not be named thought all jeans were created equal. While said girl later learned the error of her thinking, the story doesn’t end the way you might think. Yes, jeans can be expensive. No, they are not always worth it. I’ve got $35 jeans that hold their own against $250 jeans. The Citizens pair linked, while on the high end, are kind of special. I’ve never been one for scary books. Or thrillers. Don’t even get me started on psychological thrillers; I personally prefer to sleep at night. That said, I do love a whodunit-type story. No blood, only sluething for this girl. Well, The Thursday Murder Club is one of those very books (read: series) I cannot stop talking about. There are 5 books and a film adaptation of the first book. I know I don’t have to tell you that we are all adults here, and you simply may not watch the movie before you read the book. Although if you do, promise me you’ll read the subsequent books afterward. P.S. Please forward thank-you notes to me directly.
