This made me legit, LOL. If I could sum up my last couple of weeks, it would be this statement: Very. Scary. 😂
Our brains are comfortable doing the things we’ve always done in the ways we’ve always done them. So when new things are scary, sometimes they are just new. Reminding myself of this today. But for real….does this resonate with anyone? Just me? OK, I’ll go back to my Very Scary Life.
Something You Need A compact but powerful teaching moment
This is my bathroom mirror. Ignore the handwriting. A calligrapher, I am not. These two cards have been on the mirror for a couple of months now.
You know that I have not hesitated to preach anything that would be helpful to you but have taught you publicly and from house to house. Acts 2:20 NIV
What does it really mean to teach ‘publicly’ versus ‘house to house’? As a Bible teacher, I, too, have taught in both of these spaces more times than I can count. Here’s the secret sauce that Paul knew a millennium ago— teachers should be able to do both. Clearly, some people only teach in houses and perhaps will never set foot on a large platform. That’s great, and faithful. But I think Paul’s point was that if you are going to step onto public platforms (yes, even social media), you must also be learning and mentoring in homes. Your home. Your neighbor’s home. Your mama’s home. HOMES.
The term ‘public’ has a varying smorgasbord of definitions, but at its core, it means accessibility. You are accessible, and others are accessible to you. The link here matters because in both, you have people who need the gospel and God’s truth. But only one of these arenas allows other people to speak into you personally. With so many opportunities for ‘mic-drop’ moments, don’t lose the glorious simplicity of a cozy chair, a cup of something warm, a blanket, and a group of people who know your middle name.

Paul poured himself out completely for the people he loved and served, often at great personal cost. Is there an area of your life where you feel called to give more, but fear holds you back?
Paul wept openly and embraced the people he was leaving behind (v. 37). How comfortable are you with expressing deep emotion in your relationships, and what does this passage say to you about vulnerability?
Paul said he considered his life worth nothing to him if he could finish the race and complete the task God gave him (v. 24). What is the “task” you feel God has placed on your heart and what is getting in the way of fully committing to it?

TBH, I thought that caption was pretty clever. Is it ok to say that about your own writing!? haha! I laugh at my own jokes…so maybe yes? Hopefully, it’s only slightly embarrassing but mostly endearing. That’s my whole goal here: to be delightfully endearing.

This one has been out for a while, but it's worth revisiting if you're looking for a fast-paced, exciting, and not-so-scary beach read! I finished in about 6 hours. JK. But just a few days. It’s rare to find an interesting mystery paired with a great plot that doesn’t have all the scary in it.
